Ya sabéis que me importa mucho la lana Latxa y siempre me alegro si me entero de algún proyecto que utiliza esa lana. Ayer una amiga de nuestro grupo de WhatsApp ‘Hilando’ nos mostró su reciente creación: unas zapatillas hechas con lana Latxa. Me parecen tan chulos que he decidido presentároslas aquí. La artesana, Rakel, también hizo un cartel explicando la idea atrás:
Y por alguna razón no puedo colgar este cartel aquí (odio los cambios que hacen los programadores, la verdad.) Bueno, igual podéis descargarlo. Si no, el cartel explica como se puede aprovechar de la oveja Latxa: por un lado la leche para el queso y la lana para las zapatillas. También se utilizan viejos neumáticos para la suela de las zapatillas. Hay tamaños desde 35 a 41 y cuestan solo 30,-€.
Rakel tiene una página web: Artilea Mundura. Ella hace un montón de cosas con lana, entre ellas muñecos preciosos. ¡Échale un vistazo! Ah, y también se venden estas zapatillas en el Museo La Encartada en Balmaseda. Pero como todo, está cerrado por el momento.

You all know that I am always interested in projects that promote local wool, in this case Latxa wool. So when a friend posted these slippers in our WhatsApp group of spinners, I asked her if she would mind me writing about them here. And obviously she said she wouldn’t. Rakel sent me some pictures and a poster which I am unable to post here (due to wordpress settings, I guess, or my ignorance about how to use this properly). In this poster she shows how the Latxa sheeps’ resources are used: the milk to make the famous cheese and the wool to make the slippers. For the latter, old tyres are also used for the soles. Rakel offers different sizes: from 35 to 41 (EU) and they only cost 30,-€.
