Por fin: hoy me tomo tiempo para escribir sobre la alfombrilla que me hice con la técnica de las alfombrillas o alfombras Rya. Empecé hace tiempo y durante el verano no trabajé en ella por el calor. Pero hace poco la terminé: Y me parece muy suave al contacto con los pies. Eso sí, suelta un montón de pelos muertos pero creo que casi todas las alfombras de lana lo hacen al principio.

Finally: today I take time to write on the rug that I made with the Rya technique. I started a long time ago and during the summer I did not work on it because of the heat. But I recently finished it: And it seems very soft to my feet. Of course, it does shed a lot of kemp hair or short fibres but I think that almost all wool rugs do it at first.
Melinda Byrd’s book on Rya rugs helped me a lot in designing it: in the photo to the right you can see the draft and below the design on the graph paper. It is not a very complicated or original drawing but I wanted to use the different colours of the Latxa wool that I had and of the light / beige colour I had the most.
The knot is made with a blunt, thick needle, as you can see in the photos above.
