No sé cómo describir lo que he hecho para la cocina: es algo medio esponja, medio trapo. Y es casi una copia de un trapo que había visto en una casa en Goizueta, donde una amiga gestiona un albergue muy chulo: Zubimuxu aterpea. Ella había utilizado una cuerda de cáñamo (creo que era) para el lado áspero y un algodón para el lado más suave. Me pareció muy interesante este trapo/esponja de ganchillo y pensaba que yo podría hacer algo semejante con el lino grueso que tengo. Este hilo de lino era un prototipo que hicimos con la fibra de lino oleaginoso que fue mezclado con 30% de lana para que se podía cardarlo. En fin, este hilo hilado comercialmente en un centro de investigación en Francia es muy áspero y todavía contiene mucho material vegetal. No es apto para ningún tejido de vestir. Pero para un trapo de cocina igual sí. Para el lado suave del trapo he utilizado algodón ecológico de color naranja que me había sobrado de otro proyecto. He decidido hacerlo con ganchillo tunecino y el punto bajo porque me gusta mucho el dibujo de este punto.
Todavía está sin estrenar, ¡no me atrevo mojarlo! Me gusta demasiado …. ?

I don’t know how to describe what I have done for my kitchen: it is something between a cloth and a sponge. And it is almost a copy of a cloth that I had seen in a house in Goizueta, where a friend runs a very cool hostel: Zubimuxu aterpea. She had used hemp rope (I think it was) for the rough side and a cotton one for the softer side. I found this crocheted cloth / sponge very interesting and thought that I could do something similar with the thick linen I have. This flax yarn was a prototype that we made with oil flax fiber that was mixed with 30% wool so that it could be carded. Anyway, this yarn spun commercially at a research centre in France is very coarse and still contains a lot of plant material. It is not suitable for any clothing fabric. But for a kitchen wash cloth, yes. For the soft side of the cloth I have used organic cotton in orange that was a left over from another project. I have decided to do it with Tunisian crochet and the basic single stitch because I really like the pattern it produces.
I haven’t used it yet, I dare not wet it! I like it too much….
