Hace más o menos un mes puse lana merina de DehesaLana en un tarro con el líquido que había extraído de las bayas del yezgo. La lana estaba ya pre-mordentada con 10% de alumbre. Lo dejé algunas semanas en el balcón al sol (bueno, cuando hacía…) y saqué las madejas hace pocos días. Primero dejé que se secaran al aire libre sin aclarar para que el color se fijara mejor a las fibras. Luego lavé las madejas: primero en agua templada con un poquito de champú y después con agua templada sola. En el último aclarado añadí un poco de vinagre.

About a month ago I put some skeins of Merino wool from DehesaLana in a big jar with the vat that I had extracted from the berries of the European Elder Dwarf (Sambucus ebulus). The wool was already mordanted with alum (10% cold mordanting). I left the jar on the balcony so that the sun could heat it up (when it was shining…). A few days ago I got the skeins out and let them dry outside first, without washing them. Sometimes I do this to better fix the colour to the wool. (For comparison, I left one skein without washing, while washing two of the skeins.) Then I washed the skeins first in warm water with some detergent, then I rinsed them a few times and into the last rinse I put some vinegar (also to fix the colour). In the following photo you can see the difference between the skein before washing and the two after:
