En agosto habíamos dejado el lino de los Viveros de Ulía y también el lino de verano de Intxaurrondo en el suelo al lado del invernadero de Gros. El tiempo fue favorable para el enriado al rocío porque llovió lo suficiente para mojar los tallos a menudo. Así que, después de tres semanas, más o menos, los tallos me parecieron listos:

Al romper un tallo, las partes leñosas, la corteza y el corazón, se separaron fácilmente de las fibras.
In August we left the flax stalks that had grown in the Viveros de Ulía and also those that had grown in Intxaurrondo on the ground next to the Gros greenhouse. The weather was on our side for the dew retting: it rained quite a lot so the flax got wet every now and then. So, after about three weeks, the flax was ready (see photo above): When breaking a stalk, the wooden parts of the flax easily fell off and left only the fibres.
Como el día de la recogida del lino fue bastante caluroso y el lino ya estaba seco, hice tres haces del lino de los viveros y dos del lino de Intxaurrondo. Como se puede ver, el lino de Intxaurrondo está un poquito más largo y fuerte que el de los viveros (a la izquierda en la foto abajo). Ahora está esperando los precesos para sacar las fibras de los tallos.

As the harvest day was quite warm and the flax already dry, I made three bundles of the park’s flax and two of the Intxaurrondo flax. As you can see, the Intxaurrondo flax is a bit longer and stronger than the other one (on the left of the photo at the bottom). Now the flax is waiting for the next steps in the process of getting the fibres out.
