La semana pasada, día 20 de junio, fue al bancal en la Kulturetxea de Intxaurrondo para cosechar el lino de invierno. Las cápsulas ya estaban parte marrón, parte amarillo y los tallos también amarillentos. Las hojas se habían caídos casi todas y fue un día seco: ideal para arrancar las plantas.
Last week, on Tuesday 20th June, I went to the Culture Centre of Intxaurrondo (Donostia-San Sebastián) to harvest the winter flax. The capsules with the seeds were half brown, half yellow and the stems had turned yellowish as well. Almost all the leaves had fallen off and it was a dry day: ideal for pulling out the plants.
No pude pesar el lino pero lo haré en cuanto esté seco. Los tallos me parecen más fuertes que los del lino de verano pero eso puede ser o por la variedad o por las condiciones en el cultivo.
I wasn’t able to weigh the flax but I will do that as soon as it is dry. The stems seem to be stronger than those of the summer flax but this can be due to the type of plant or to the conditions of the flower bed.
