¿Nunca has oído del Tour de Fleece? ¿Crees que es un fallo y se trata del Tour de Francia? Pues, no. El Tour de Fleece existe y tiene lugar en todo el mundo mientras el Tour de Francia pasa por Francia (o Düsseldorf, como hoy). Este año los ciclistas y las hilanderas pedalean del 1 de julio hasta el 23. El Tour de Fleece es una idea que surgió en Ravelry (creo) y todos los años miles de personas participan en él. Hay muchos equipos con diferentes lemas y metas y nos apoyamos mutuamente. La meta en general es disfrutar nuestra afición del hilado y ponerse un reto personal. Mi reto personal para este año es lo de siempre: disminuir la cantidad de lanas que tengo (el ‘stash’).
Have you never heard of the Tour de Fleece? Do you think it’s just a mistake and it should be Tour de France? Well, no. The Tour de Fleece does exist and it takes place worldwide while the real Tour de France is passing through France (or Düsseldorf, like today). This year the cyclists and the spinners pedal from 1st to 23rd of July. The Tour de Fleece is an idea of some Ravelers (I think) and every year there are thousands of people who join the fun. You can join one of the many teams which have very different goals or themes in common. But everybody cheers on everybody else. The general goal is to enjoy the spinning and to challenge yourself. My personal challenge is the same as every year: just to diminish my stash of wools…
