El pasado fin de semana fui a una excursión en Cantabria: visité una granja maravillosa donde crian alpacas de forma sostenible y ecológica. Se llaman ‘Alpacas de la Tierruca‘ y también venden la fibra en diferentes estados para que los artesanos la conviertan en prendas bonitas. Pero la dueña también teje y vende sus prendas exquisitas hechas a mano.
Last weekend I went on an excursion to Cantabria: I visited a wonderful farm where they are breeding and raising alpacas ecologically. The farm can be found in Llanos de Penagos and is called ‘Alpacas de la Tierruca‘. They also sell their fibre and some handmade products, some of them even made by one of the owners, Pilar Fortes.

Podéis ver los colores naturales tan bonitos y también los diferentes grosores de los hilos. Las madejas en la parte superior están hiladas a mano (perdón por la imagen borrosa), las de abajo a máquina.
You can see the beautiful natural colours of the fibre and also the different thickness. The skeins on top are hand spun yarn (sorry for the blurred image), the ones below are spun commercially.
